Governance
The Local Government Learning and Development Framework (the Framework)
The Framework is a collaboration between:
- the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s Office of Local Government
- the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT)
- councils.
The Framework provides learning activities to increase the knowledge and skills of councillors.
Governance
A Governance Group guides the development of the Framework. They make decisions about the learning and development activities. The Governance Group includes:
- councillors
- council officers
- Office of Local Government representative
- Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) representative.
A Charter guides the Governance Group’s activities. The Charter has principles and rules for the group to follow.
Aims of the Framework
The Framework:
- promotes councillor learning and development as valuable and important
- encourages people to do learning activities
- includes activities to suit different abilities
- is inclusive
- helps people understand about running as a candidate
- has ongoing learning activities
- is funded
- includes who does what to support the Framework
- is evaluated and improved.
